The Exhibition honors design professionals in New Hampshire. Award categories include best design, web, photography, copy writing , student work and of course illustration. The Portsmouth Ballroom logo was entered by Harbour Light Strategic Marketing (they commissioned me to create the logo).
The competition was strong and I didn't think a logo would win. Compared to more detailed and colorful illustrations my logo looked woefully simple. I am happy to win but still fear the judges made a mistake!
The ballroom logo started as brush and ink drawing that was then scanned and manipulated in Adobe Illustrator.

Sure it's a logo, but it's mostly illustration. Don't feel guilty for winning--it's good! If you feel bad, you can always give the award to me. It's solid work and probably was the best of what was submitted. Just don't get too cocky:) Congrats!
Congratulations! Sometimes simple IS better; don't second-guess yourself!
Your last blog post was on 6/20. Time to update the blog. Let's see some new sketches of whatever you've been working on lately. Your fans demand it!
Hear, hear!!
Hey, while we're on the subject, I'm a fellow EHS alum, actually I went to school with you from the time we were about 8. Are you headed to the reunion in a couple of weeks, I'd love to have a chance to chat.
Sorry, there was a first para there that somehow didn't get typed, just thought. It was supposed to go something like this:
"Congratulations, there's nothing wrong with the judges.
I'm glad to see Mrs. Chili commenting. It's good to have support from the past."
then a nice segue into my original comment.
Wow! 6 comments. That's a new record. I managed to do some sketching today despite my boo-boo head (as my nephews would say:) I'll post some new stuff this week. Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve (hint, hint) This comment makes 7. You beat me!
Yippee! Have a great vacation and I'll see you on the 21st!
